About Shoe&theCity
One day there were two girlfriends dreaming about having their own favourite
shoe site. Not fully realising then, that nurturing such a project would
take quite a lot of of time and effort.
Several months later it's just one girl left and a site where shoe dreams
come true. One could say that Shoe & the City is the favourite
pet project of Alexandra Kallos.
I'm of greek origin, having lived and studied art in Holland. I create
artworks with photography and video. As well as being a great tango
aficionado, I have been dancing and teaching Argentine tango for
several years. Right now I'm based in Barcelona.
As long as I can remember I have been crazy about shoes. When I was
a little girl in Athens, I remember throwing a tantrum because I didn’t
understand why I had to take off my new shoes before going to bed. I
was very small, tiny actually, but very determined. I ended up sleeping
with my shiny new, patent leather shoes, or to put it better,
with my feet and shoes dangling outside the sheets, hanging just over
the side of my baby bed.
That is only one of many shoe memories…. Growing up I realised
that there were many more girls sharing this adamant love of shoes. Living
in a city such as Barcelona – with a very long leather history,
fancy shoe shops are abundant. Here is just a list of my favourite
ones, to accommodate shopping for all you shoe-fetishists out there!
If all goes well it might get a follow up for cities like Amsterdam,
Paris and who knows…
